Gangs and the Transnational Drug Threat – Confidential Informants

Course Description:  This course is designed to develop an understanding of criminal gang confidential informant source development beginning at identification. Fundamentals include communication, listening and interpretation which are important for cultivating criminal gang informants. The course provides team building, gang communication skills, gang language, types of informants, the recruitment process, three keys to informant success, management, payments, policy, procedure, milestones written reports, and guidelines for success.

Course Objectives:

  • Describe proven and reliable identification options for source development, accompanied by strategies for long term maximum possibilities.
  • Describe proven communication options and techniques to “flip” or craft the potential source for harvest.
  • Begin to develop their own sources for any investigation.
