Course Length: 8 Hours

The course features a comprehensive survey of basic drug terminology, the Controlled Substances Act and the Uniform Code of Military Justice application of this act. Drugs of abuse are grouped into depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens, cannabis, steroids, and inhalants. Each group of drugs are then described in terms of method of production, means of ingestion, effects, and signs of abuse for classes of drugs.

Drugs covered in this course include in part, opiates (heroin, codeine, morphine, and analogs), cocaine, crack, methamphetamines, LSD, PCP, ketamine, peyote, MDMA, psilocybin, cannabis, hash, testosterone, and inhalants. Produced by MCTFT in partnership with the United States Army Military Police School, and the National Guard Bureau Counterdrug Directorate.

Course Objectives:

  • Define basic drug terminology, the Controlled Substances Act, and the Uniform Code of Military Justice application of the Controlled Substances Act.
  • Identify substances of abuse, including narcotic and non-narcotic substances.
  • Identify the method of production, means of ingestion, effects, and signs of abuse for classes of drugs.
